IT'S NEVER TOO LATE FOR A NEW BEGINNING
by ROSIENID PERE
If you think that art and science are different, you are wrong. To be an artist implies that you have to be a scientist also. One of the most important skills in both is observation and as you continue developing that skill more creative you become. Artworks are not only the expression of ourselves, but a way to be aware and preserve the beauty of our world.
WATERCOLORS, OILS aND ACRYLICS
My work is characterized by the brilliant colors of the tropics and represent the Puerto Rican culture and our way of life. I feel so proud of my Island, Puerto Rico, one of the Major Antilles of the Caribbean, that I feel is my duty to show to the world the multicolored sunsets, the turquoise color of the sea, the whiteness of sandy beaches, and the diversef colors of the flowers and butterflies...Also how we enjoy our sorroundings, so I usually portray people at different sites of our Island.
It was a few years ago that I realized I could be an artist. I had never painted before, but I have always been so involved in science, art, and education, that I think I just ignore the signs. Now, painting is my life! Every day I learn something new.
As a scientist, I learned to perceive my sorroundings objectively. As an educator, I learned to understand people and teach them ways to do their best in life. As an artist, I have found a way to tell people to be aware of the beauty that sorrounds, and to enjoy and preserve it.
Life has taught me that if you work hard, you will get what you want. When I thought I could present my artworks to galleries I did it.The title of my first proposal was "A New Beginning". I was invited for group and solo exhibitions in galleries, such as Agora Gallery , Soho, NY and Stephen Gang Galleries at Chelsea, NY. I am exhibiting my work in AAWS Gallery, NC, LBA Gallery, CA and in Puerto Rico.
My work has been published in Direct Art Magazine and NewArt International Book and Magazine. I am a member of museums in Puerto Rico and United States and American Watercolor Society, NOAPS, Watercolor Society of Puerto rico, Mississippi Watercolor Society, AAWS and LBA Artists Associations.
